As I am a Microsoft Certified MS Word Expert. I receive so many emails every week from my subscribers, asking about Microsoft Word Tips and Tricks. This week’s topic is Watermarks in Word 2007. Before proceeding further I would like to tell you, there are two types of watermarks in Word 2007.

  • Text Watermarks
  • Picture Watermarks

First option is used to display any word or phrase as a background of your text document e.g.

  • Confidential
  • Disclaimer
  • Draft
  • Do Not Copy

You can use any other word or phrase instead of above mentioned examples according to your need. The font size, color and transparency of the background text are also adjustable.
As the name suggests, second option is used to display a picture as a background of your text document. So let me start today’s tutorial. Please follow the steps below;

  • Go to Page Layout Tab (third tab from the left) in top ribbon menu
  • Move your pointer to Page Background Section (third section from the left)
  • Now click Watermark button and you will be shown a dropdown menu
  • You will see some predesigned watermarks (text only) choose one from list or click “Custom Watermark”
  • After doing this a pop-up menu will appear on your computer screen
  • Select the type of watermark you want to insert in your document (Picture or Text)
  • If you have selected to use “Text Watermark” please type the text and set other options e.g. Language, Text Size, Font Color and transparency etc.
  • If you want to use an image file as watermark please click the second option and set the size of your image as you want it to appear on your document
  • Click “Apply” when you get finished with your settings
  • Click “OK” to close the pop-up menu

DONE!!
